“Mr. Nawaz will provide an intellectual property (IP) overview and discuss the patent process with our students,” said Kristin McCandless, the director of MSU’s Office of Technology Management (OTM).

Open to all, his presentation -- “The Value of Intellectual Property and Its Protection" -- will be held from 2:30-4 p.m. in Mitchell Memorial Library’s auditorium. Visit www.tfaforms.com/369119 to register for the free seminar.

According to McCandless, Nawaz and the OID work with inventors, small businesses, entrepreneurs, university researchers, and minority and underserved populations to help them better understand, secure and utilize IP with a focus on patents.

“We believe that faculty, staff, students and members of the local community will benefit from Mr. Nawaz’s presentation,” McCandless said.

OTM and the Office of Research and Economic Development are sponsoring his visit to campus. OTM is charged with efficiently capturing, protecting and managing the commercialization of Mississippi State’s intellectual property.
